intelligence: season 1

i highly recommend this show, but i doubt that singapore will ever show it on non-cable tv... the name is "intelligence" and it's about government agencies vs. secret societies, drugs & weapons & warfare, espionage & informants, all set in the city of vancouver in canada. season 1 just ended today and i find it extremely exciting, but it may not be for everyone.




why i like it is because it portrays the stress that agents face, and the back-biting that goes on behind the scenes in the government agencies. some characters from the secret societies are more respectable than those from the agencies!

at the center of the drama is this woman, mary, who's not only fighting crime in the streets but also fighting for her job (her boss and her subordinate gang up against her) and this man, jimmy, who's the head of a secret society but also provides info to mary.

the plot is convoluted but not impossible to understand. and the actors are great! i particularly admire the acting of ian tracey, who plays jimmy reardon. he infuses his character with such grace and courage and sensitivity and wisdom. he won't make the top 10 list of good looking actors but he really knows how to act. i so admire jimmy reardon.
